This is the second step in salvation.
Repentance removes the barrier that separated us from God, but is only available to us because the price or penalty of our sin was paid by our Savior Jesus Christ. It is through faith in Jesus that we receive our salvation.
Belief and Confession- means to have trust and to acknowledge your faith and hope in Christ. One must believe not only in who Jesus is, but also in what he has done. This is known as the Gospel of Jesus Christ. ( Rom 1:16)
Believing is simply having faith in what God has done (John 3:16) in sending his son to die for our sins, and most importantly that the sacrifice that was made was accepted, which was confirmed by the raising of Jesus from the grave. (1Cor 15:17)
Although Jesus died for all and paid the price for all men, we must accept him as our savior. This comes through confession, asking Jesus to come into our heart and to accept our lives as a living sacrifice in exchange for his life that we will live for him.(Gal 2:20)
We confess Christ in our everyday life by living a life that is reflective of the love that God has shown to us in Christ. This is how we are known to be Christians. (John 13:35)
Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
